Hello- this comment is for Brent (or anyone else who blogs at 50 Books Project 2012 who might be interested)
My name is Jordan, and I'm with TLC Book Tours. We coordinate online blog tours for authors and publishers. I'm working with TLC Book Tours on a tour that I think would be a good fit for 50 Books Project. The tour I'm currently working on is the book "The American Bible: How our Words Unite, Divide and Define a Nation" by Stephen Prothero. In this book, Prothero examines documents, songs, speeches and literature that "continue to inspire discussion and provoke impassioned debate among Americans, puts them back into their original context, and unearths the longstanding American tradition of civil debate which has been lacking in recent political discourse." I thought Brent might be interested in this book because I saw that he reviewed another book by Prothero last year.
If any of your contriburots were interested, we'd have the book sent out to you in exchange for your posting your thoughts on the book on a mutually agreed-upon date in mid-to-late June. We don't require positive reviews, just honest ones.

my own interpretation of sylvia's cryptic statement about 'the riding that's done it' is that her athleticism (which is often mentioned in regards to her physical appearance) led to infertility or a miscarriage in the years when she was with christopher. i have no idea if others have interpreted it this way, but that's my take on it.

i loved this book, I read two others by him but this was by far the best. Still Life With Woodpecker was good, and had a similar layers of an onion vibe, but then Villa Incognito was just disjointed and kind of gross.

They published a new edition for the 100th anniversary. Apparently these translators were the first to translate the Book of Hours into English, pretty cool.

Lori, I teach it to 12th grade AP students and their principal reaction has been that they find the use of dialect annoying. However, I think it would work in an 11th grade class of any gender.
